Runners taking part in one of this year's three routes (one for students) will enjoy a race that combines the highest sporting standards, with a great celebration in the charming city of Nafplio! The race includes the "Nafplio Castle Run", which climbs up to the Palamidi castle, and the Historical Memory Road Race, which commemorates the fall of Palamidi(10km for adults and 3km for high school students).

Torch Relay
During the Athens Authentic Marathon's opening ceremony, a delegation of the Organizing Committee of Nafplio Castle Run & Nafplio Marathon has received the Marathon Flame. The Marathon Flame will travel to Nafplio, where with an exquisite Torch Relay on Saturday, December 7th (the Race's eve), will climb step by step on Palamidi castle, in order to light the altar and thus to mark the opening of Nafplio Castle Run Event! The participation of the Military School of Guards brightens the Torch Relay and all events.
The Torchbearers gather in front of the Archaeological Museum in Syntagma Square and from there, along Amalias Street, with waypoints and symbols being the War Museum, the statue of I. Kapodistrias and the statue of Staikos Staikopoulos, where also a small ceremony with the Municipal Philharmonic takes place, the torch relay will begin with the ascent to the castle from the entrance of March 25th street. When the last torchbearer reaches the peak of the Castle, the altar lights on, the Castle lights turn off and the latten candles are left to the sky from the coastal front of the city in front of Philhellenon Square. A unique and magical spectacle!

Races
-  Nafplio Castle Run, 5km racing climbing on Palamidi castle (18 years old up). Participation fee: 15,00€. Starting: 10:40 (finish time limit of 60 minutes, i.e. by 11:40).
-  Running Race of Historical Memory, of 10km (16 years old up); new, for faster racing. Participation fee: 10,00€. Starting: 09:00 (finish time limit of 90 minutes, i.e. by 10:30).
-  Running Race of 3km, for high-school pupils. Starting: 11:50 (finish time limit of 30 minutes, i.e. by 12:20). Free participation.
The start and finish of all races will take place in the designated area at the entrance of the Castle on "March 25th" street.

Registrations
On-line Registrations for individuals, will be accepted until Thursday, December 5th 2024. Very limited new registrations will be made on the day of the race, at least one hour before the start of the races.

Secretariat
At the starting area: 07:00 - 13:00
Participants will receive their participation package from the Secretariat.

The Nafplio Castle Run is a sporting event of high standards and at the same time a unique running sports Event, as it has the only race in Greece that includes a racing castle ascension.
The organization is certified by the State, SEGAS Athletics Federation and AIMS institution and follows every official Health Protocol.
The race is organized by the Municipality of Nafplion, in cooperation with the Association of Marathon Runners of Argolis.
The routes have been changed this year (2024) at the suggestion of the Nafplio Traffic Police, in order to minimize the disruption to the city caused by the organization of the event.
